ReplyDeletecynthia i will be readsing every day, stay strong and dont let your mind play tricks on you, think about the way you want people to think of you and b ecome that person
ReplyDeleteHi Cynthia! I will be happy to be there for you and encourage you to do what Jim H. did. You see, I had a wonderful, loving son that had a drinking problem & got into crack cocaine, and he gave up on life and committed suicide. I only wish I could have helped him in some way. I realize that your problem is alcohol, but maybe with a lot of us encouraging you, you will finally take the steps you need to take like Jim H. did. I'm just so happy for him that things are going so well for him. My dad was an alcoholic when I was a little girl, and even though I was very young, I still remember how bad things were before he joined AA. He joined AA when I was five years old and he stayed sober for the rest of his life and sponsored many people in AA from then on. Even though he died in 2001, the AA members in Siskiyou County still consider him "Mr. AA of Siskiyou County."
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize that my brother was an alcoholic because he was in the military and we haven't lived near each other since we were kids. But he's involved in AA and the other one (can't think of the name right now, but it's for the children of alcoholics.) But do whatever works best for you. I attended a lot of AA meetings with my Dad whenever I'd visit him in Northern California, and it works for some people, but not everyone. You do have to listen over & over to people's stories, which may not work for you, but maybe you could attend one meeting and see how you feel. Since Jim mentioned you, I have been praying for you, and I will continue to pray and be supportive of you. God Bless! Nancy
Cynthia, Let us get one thing straight. We're all addicts. We all have besetting sins that try to control us, and if we allow it, they will eventually destroy us. God's grace is the only hope any of us have to overcome the sins that so easily beset us. Alcohol is not your real problem. It's just your drug of choice to medicate yourself from what's really bothering you. So ask yourself, what are the symptoms you're trying to numb by drinking so much? When you can discern what your real issues are, you can begin to work on them one at a time, and by God's grace, you will feel less of a need to self-medicate.
ReplyDeleteDear Father in Heaven, please bless Cynthia with a sense of Your presence in her life. Help her to know that Your grace is sufficient to give her victory over her addiction to alcohol and any other sin or thought pattern that is afflicting her. I thank You for hearing my prayer for Jesus sake. Amen.
Blessings,
Jacl
